Dmitry Ferschtman

Dmitry Ferschtman (Moscow, 1945) studied at the Moscow Conservatory with Galina Kozolupova and Natalia Gutman. During his studies at the conservatory he co-founded the Glinka Quartet with Misha Geller, among others. He played in the ensemble from 1966 to 1978, giving hundreds of concerts in the Soviet Union and abroad. In 1978, Ferschtman settled in The Netherlands. He has performed as a soloist numerous times, under conductors such as Frans Brüggen, Kenneth Montgomery, and Edo de Waart, and has made many radio recordings. He is also an extremely active chamber musician. He has given countless recitals and recorded numerous CDs with his wife, Mila Baslawskaja. Dmitry Ferschtman has been a professor at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, Utrecht Conservatory, and the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. He is currently leading the string quartet course at the Conservatory of Amsterdam.
