Mila Baslawskaja

Mila Baslawskaja was born in Moscow and studied at the Central Music School and the Conservatory in Moscow. She gave many recitals in Russia from an early age. She has performed with musicians such as Natalia Gutman, Oleg Kagan, Gidon Kremer, and Yuri Bashmet. In 1978, she left the Soviet Union with her husband, cellist Dmitry Ferschtman, and settled in The Netherlands. She has performed with him in various countries and together they have recorded works by Nikolai Myaskovsky, Alfred Schnittke, Dmitri Shostakovich, Claude Debussy, Robert Schumann, César Franck, as well as Russian romances. Baslawskaja has been a piano professor at the Conservatories in Rotterdam and Amsterdam. She is currently a professor at the young talent department of the Conservatory of Amsterdam.
