Hossein Behroozinia

Hossein Behroozinia (Tehran, 1962) is a well-known barbat and oud player. Both these instruments are considered predecessors of the lute, although microtonality did not allow for the use of frets.
Behroozinia studied oud with Mansour Nariman at the Conservatory of Tehran and went on to become the Music Director of the Ensemble Khaleghi. Behroozinia distinguishes himself through his virtuosity and his deep knowledge of Persian classical music as well as his country’s folklore.
