For fifty years now, the ‘12 Cellists’ have been a guiding light for cello ensembles around the world. With pieces composed and arranged especially for them, they’ve explored and pushed the envelope of what it means to be a cello ensemble, elevating performances to the same dizzying heights as those of the top string quartets. New pieces by composers Brett Dean and Boris Blacher successfully manage to challenge the Berliner, as well as classics by Nino Rota and Astor Piazzolla.
