Matthias Bartolomey
Cello and jury
Matthias Bartolomey (Vienna, 1985) started playing the cello at age 7, receiving his first lessons from his father. Later he would study in Vienna with Valentin Erban, cellist in the Alban Berg Quartet, and in Salzburg with Clemens Hagen. He became a teacher at the Mozarteum in Salzburg in 2020. Together with Klemens Bittman, who plays violin and mandola, he forms BartolomeyBittmann, a duo with which he has played in many important venues throughout Europe. Matthias is also the solo cellist of Concentus Musicus Wien, founded by Nikolaus Harnoncourt. Matthias Bartolomey plays a 1727 David Tecchler.
