About the Cello Biennale

The Cello Biennale Amsterdam is a ten-day international music festival focusing on everything cello-related. With over a hundred events taking place in every nook and cranny of the BIMHUIS and the Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ, the Cello Biennale Amsterdam is the place-to-be and a source of inspiration for cellists and music lovers from around the world.

From early morning (Bach&Breakfast) throughout the evening (CELLOFEST) to late at night. And all genres too – classical, contemporary, jazz, pop, rock, improvisation, electro and from countless multicultural backgrounds.

It’s a stage for famous top Dutch and international musicians, ensembles and orchestras alike. You’ll get to hear, see, and meet big names, old favourites, and new faces at every new edition.

Festival 2024

Ten!

2024 marks the 10th edition of the Cello Biënnale Amsterdam! An anniversary all about the number ten. Together we look back on nine editions filled with unforgettable musical moments, which we will revisit during the tenth edition. Normally we don’t ask cellists to repeat a programme, but for this tenth edition we’re making an exception: an anniversary isn’t the same without the highlights of previous festivals!
