Matthew Barley is internationally renowned as a cellist, improviser, and arranger. His musical activities are geared towards projects that connect people in different ways, blurring the lines between genres and people. Barley has performed as a soloist with top orchestras all over the world, but also initiated groundbreaking projects with traditional musicians. At the Cello Biënnale Amsterdam 2026, he is the driving force and the initiator of the international quartet project 51 strings within the CELLOFEST programme at the BIMHUIS.
