Kalle de Bie started playing the cello at six years old. From 2008, he studied at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with Jeroen den Herder, Jelena Očić, and Dmitry Ferschtman. Kalle finished his education at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna, studying with the famous cellist Reinhard Latzko.
In October 2016, Kalle received the Start in Splendor Prize at the National Cello Competition, winning an evening’s carte blanche in Splendor Amsterdam. He created a musical and visual journey through the surrealist world of the French composer Henri Dutilleux. Kalle previously worked on other projects involving film, poetry, and dance. He is a member of the Brackman Trio and the Marigold Piano Quartet. Kalle also plays with the collective Pynarello.
