HejjaCello - Janos Hejja
Cello maker
Janos HEJJA (b. 1976) grew up surrounded by string instruments, a background that led him from performing as a cellist to mastering the craft of cello making. He is dedicated to the creation, restoration, and tonal refinement of cellos, with a particular focus on new copy-model instruments inspired by the great classical masters.
Guided by a deep respect for tradition and an ear for modern musical demands, his work seeks harmony between historical authenticity and expressive contemporary sound. Having crafted nearly one hundred cellos, his instruments are now played by musicians across Europe and beyond, and are regularly featured at international events such as the Amsterdam Cello Biennale, Kronberg Academy Festival, Rutesheim Cello Academy, Utrecht Early Music Festival, Resonanzen in Vienna, Mondomusica in Cremona, and the Wine & Violin Festival in Budapest.
