Frans van Deursen

Voice

Frans van Deursen (1962) has been active on and around Dutch stages for over 35 years. His journey through the arts began at the age of 12, when the Dutch Opera Foundation needed a cheeky young lad for Puccini’s Tosca. Backstage at the theatre, his fascination with the magnificent circus known as theatre began. Not long after, he also landed his first television role. It soon became clear: this profession was his calling.

After completing his VWO and a year spent straying into Theatre Studies, he threw himself into the practical side of the business. He didn’t earn a penny but learnt all the more. When he was cast as Frits in the TV comedy In de Vlaamsche Pot, his breakthrough was a fact. On TV, he played roles both large and small in series such as De Hoofdprijs, Voetbalvrouwen, Hartslag, La Famiglia, Baantjer, Moordvrouw and Dalziel & Pascoe. And: for many years, he played Koefnoen’s Mark Rutte.

He takes on a wide variety of roles and does not limit himself to any one genre: ‘as long as there’s substance to it!’ He feels most at home in the world of musical theatre. There, he continues to hone his skills in acting, singing, writing, composing and translating.
