Denis Severin is a renowned cellist and pedagogue of Ukrainian origin, internationally renowned for his expertise in both historically informed performance and the contemporary cello repertoire.
Severin studied at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow with Dmitry Miller, at the Haute École de Musique de Genève with Daniel Grosgurin, and at the Music Academy in Basel with Thomas Demenga. He continued his studies at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, studying Baroque cello, chamber music, and string quartet with Christophe Coin. He also took masterclasses with, among others, Janos Starker, Natalia Gutman, Truls Mørk, Anner Bijlsma, and Gary Hoffman.
He teaches at the Haute École de Musique in Geneva and the Hochschule für Musik in Zurich. Severin is actively committed to the international exchange of young top talent. He travels with his top students from Geneva to Amsterdam for Students around the World.
