Carsten Netz

Carsten Netz (1971, Germany) is a jazz and fusion musician (saxophone, clarinet, flute). Netz studied jazz and popular music at the conservatoires of van Würzburg and Stuttgart. In 2001, he received a grant from the Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg.
Together with Axel Hemprich, Hanfreich, and Zbikbeat, Netz formed the quartet Schnute, and he is a part of the jazz and electronic scene in Stuttgart. He features on albums by Gee Hye Lee, Gomo Park, Sputnik 27, Zeitlust, and Schnute. The CD But Where’s the Moon, with Sputnik 27, was nominated for the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik. He has accompanied Siiri Sisask (Teine Jälg, Lingua Mea) and was a part of Fried Dähn’s Onomatopoeia Perturbation Consort. For years, Netz has been a member of Torsten Krill’s frimfram collective, with which he released the album Im Spielhaus (2023).
