Bernd Settelmeyer
Drums
Drummer and percussionist Bernd Settelmeyer first studied in Munich with Rudolf Roth and later at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart with Pierre Favre. There he soon began to expand his range of instruments, incorporating elements from other cultures into his playing, and working on solo projects.
Working with diverse line-ups and musicians led to a busy concert schedule, including in different countries such as Switzerland, Russia, Austria, India, South Africa, and America. Alongside numerous CD recordings, there were TV performances, radio recordings, and interdisciplinary projects with authors (J. Nauom, P. O. Chojewitz), film music (for example.: “Rivers and Tides” – Andy Goldsworthy), theatre (including Staatstheater Stuttgart, WLB Esslingen, Heidelberg), and dance companies, as well as collaborations with musicians such as Fred Frith, Maria João, and Michel Godard.
Another key focus is formed by his own concepts and compositions, teaching, and giving workshops. For several years now, he has taught improvisation/percussion at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart and percussion ensemble/percussion at the PH Ludwigsburg.
