In 1902, Ottorino Respighi composed his First Cello Concerto, but only for the second movement, the famous Adagio con variazioni, was an orchestration from 1921 (!) also to be found. Through Respighi’s descendants, cellist and composer Giovanni Sollima acquired the sketches of the other movements, and he finished the orchestration of the first and third movements. Mirjam van Hengel will be discussing this with the Italian composer and cellist.
