Stephan Braun

Cello

Stephan Braun is recognized as one of the most interesting cellists in the European jazz scene. He played with famous musicians such as Melody Gardot, Nils Landgren, Gil Goldstein, Chris Hinze, Don Thomson, Till Broenner, Giora Feidman, and Kristjan Randalu. He studied both classical and jazz cello at the conservatories of Hamburg and Berlin, and won the International Jazz Competition in Bucharest with his trio. Stephan Braun recorded more than 20 albums, including two with his trio and duo. He currently teaches at the Jazzinstitut Berlin and the University of Music, Theater, and Media in Hannover.
