Sebastiaan van Halsema

Sebastiaan van Halsema is a musical all-rounder who became hooked to contemporary music during his studies in London. Enjoying a musical upbringing, Sebastiaan van Halsema started playing the cello at age 6. A few years later he was admitted to the Young Talent class of the Amsterdam Conservatory, where he spent 6 years studying with Maarten Mostert. Sebastiaan then continued his studies at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in Londen with Louise Hopkins. In 2008 he graduated cum laude for his bachelor’s degree and received the prestigious Concert Recital Diploma, and reached his master’s degree in 2010.
Sebastiaan is a regular soloist for renowned orchestras. In 2012, he became the deputy principal cellist in the Phion. He has been the cellist of Asko|Schönberg since 2019.
