The 22nd of September is the premiere of the new soundtrack for this 1920 classic during the Cello & Film mini festival in Eye Filmmuseum. Composed by Florian Magnus Maier, and performed live by Cellokwartet Ferschtman (Dmitry Ferschtman, Larissa Groeneveld, Kete Roinishvili and Emile Visser).

Dr. Jekyll, a respected surgeon in Victorian London, has become fascinated by the duality of human nature. Using a chemical formula he succeeds in effecting a division of good from evil – only to discover his own dark side as ‘Mr. Hyde’. The experiment appears a success until his evil alter ego begins to take control…

John Barrymore is magnificent as the peculiar doctor who ventures out into the unknown and is no longer able to control the dark side of his nature. A scintillating adaptation of Robert L. Stevenson’s classic horror story.
