Having performed Chaconne from Bach’s Violin Partita No. 2 on Tuesday (25 October), Mario Brunello will then be performing the entire partita on his cello piccolo – an instrument tuned an octave lower than the violin. This contemplative, melancholic work contrasts starkly with the second half of his programme in which his cello brazenly sings, soars and swirls to dances by Bartók, Ravel, Tchaikovsky and other great composers – fiercely and fierily!

Cellist Marc Coppey will be accompanied by pianist and Irish cello festival Cellissimo’s artistic director Finghin Collins.
