Willem Jeths – composer laureate of the Netherlands from 2014 to 2016 – wrote his first cello concerto in 1999 for Frances-Marie Uitti. Nell’Oltretomba is his second cello concerto, composed specially for this year’s Cello Biennale. It is performed by Leonard Elschenbroich*.

The resounding winner of the first Queen Elisabeth Competition dedicated to the cello (Brussels, 2017), Victor Julien-Laferrière, will be performing Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No.

*Leonard Elschenbroich replaces Johannes Moser, who had to cancel due to illness.
