Pepijn Meeuws cello

Emile and Pepijn are close friends. They would like to play on stage together, but that is not easy. What has that old cello been through? Is Pepijn secretly doing magic tricks again and what does it sound like when he plays on a saw? Pepijn and Emile discover all kinds of wonderful things around their old cellos.

This witty family performance (6+) with beautiful music by Edvard Grieg, Jean Barrière, Astor Piazzolla, Henry Purcell and Oene van Geel, among others, was commissioned by the Cello Biennale Amsterdam and premiered with great success during the festival in 2014.

Tip: Build your own cello
A cello made from recycled material? Under the guidance of violinist and sound artist Jacob Plooij you will work on making your own cello from old instruments and other waste. This activity takes place between 11:00 and 15:00 in the entrance hall of the Muziekgebouw and is free, you do not need to register.
