The countdown to the sixth Cello Biennale begins as the mini film festival Cello & Film opens, a cooperative venture between the Biennale and Eye. Eye will host a series of silent movies accompanied by live cello performances. One of the high points within this mini-festival will be a presentation of a new sound track created for Fritz Lang’s futuristic classic, Metropolis (1927). Pieter Smithuijsen’s sound track is scored for 8 cellos, piano tracks and a theater organ.
Cello & Film, 18 t/m 25 October at EYE, IJpromenade 1, Amsterdam
