Lidy Blijdorp


Lidy Blijdorp received the Incentive Award during the first National Cello Concours in 2006, and was praised for her ‘staggering musicality’. Lidy graduated cum laude in The Hague, Amsterdam, and Paris, and received her Artists’ Diploma at the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel. She studied with Monique Bartels, Michel Strauss, and Gary Hoffman. Lidy performed in New York, France, Switzerland, and Japan. During the Online Biennale in 2020, she played Calliope Tsoupaki’s Thin Air as well as the premiere of Alexandre Kordzaia’s cello concerto. Recently, together with the Residentie Orchestra the Hague, she also premiered the new cello concerto Trailblazer by Joël Bons.

Lidy plays the cello formerly played by Anner Bijlsma, crafted by Celeste Farotti, made available by the Dutch Musical Instruments Foundation.
