Die 12 Cellisten der Berliner Philharmoniker
Die 12 Cellisten der Berliner Philharmoniker belong to the absolute top tier of cello ensembles. The individual class of the cellists, coupled with a 50-year tradition of playing together, deliver an experience of listening to a string quartet of the highest level. In 1972, a performance of the legendary Hymnus by Klengel gave the impetus for the foundation of the ensemble. Since then, many famous composers have written for them. World-class arrangers have made popular pieces of classical music available to cello lovers. Die 12 Cellisten previously performed, to great acclaim, in the 2010 and 2016 Biennales.
