Maria Warenberg

Mezzo-soprano

 

Maria Warenberg (Delft, 1995) comes from a musical family. When she was seven years old, she took her first piano lessons. She also enjoyed singing from an early age. As a teenager, Maria received her first singing lessons, and a year later she was accepted at the School for Young Talent of the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. There Maria was taught by both Rita Dams and Marjan Kuiper. After that Maria studied at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with Sasja Hunnego where she graduated cum laude. She is currently part of the Dutch National Opera Academy. 

 

Maria Warenberg participated in the Classic Young Masters’s Masterpiece and was awarded the title of Classic Young Master by an international committee. Maria forms a regular duo with pianist Gabriele Zemaityte. They have performed in the Concertgebouw, Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ, and the Doelen in Rotterdam, among others. In addition to song repertoire, Maria is also very fond of the opera repertoire and has soloed several times with orchestra. In the summer of 2018, Maria made her debut in Sicily as Cherubino in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, and in 2020 she made her debut at the Dutch National Opera Studio in Amsterdam in Willem Jeths' opera Ritratto. Since 2016, Maria has received a grant from the VandenEnde Foundation with which she can follow masterclasses with renowned musicians. She has followed masterclasses with, among others: Angela Brower, Ann Murray, Bejun Mehta, Charlotte Margiono, Ira Siff, Margreet Honig, Marlena Malas, Nelly Miricioiu, and Susanna Eken.
