Emma van Schadewijk

Cello

Emma van Schadewijk (2003) started playing the cello when she was 7 years old with Ela Hendriks-Cabaj, since the summer of 2012 in the talent class of Muzelinck, Center for the Arts in Oss. In 2016 she started the Artez preparatory course in Arnhem, with Inge Grevink and Rene Berman as teachers. Emma received masterclasses from Pieter Wispelwey, Dmitri Ferschtman, and Gregor Horsch. Since November 2012, Emma has formed Duo Decivo with violinist Iris from Nuland. As a duo they won the first prize in the talent show of the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam in 2013.

Emma won first prize at the Princess Christina Junior Competition, in 2015 at the Herman Krebbers Competition, and at the Britten Competition in 2017. Since 2017 she has formed a duo with Mischa van Tijn on piano. A year later also formed a piano trio with Tim de Vries called Trio Diotima. In 2018, this trio won the first prize and the press prize in the national final of the Princess Christina Competition. Emma has participated in several television programs including the Kinderprinsengracht concert (together with Johan Wiersma and Maria Pedano), Zapp Music Challenge, together with Iris van Nuland and the Dutch pop band Racoon. Together with Johan Wiersma and Maria Pedano, Emma organized the opening of the television program Kinderen voor Kinderen in theater Carré in the context of the 35th anniversary of this program. She also played at The Youth Gala in The Grand in Amsterdam and at the award ceremony of De Muziekwedstrijd. Emma has been studying at the Yehudi Menuhin School in England since September 2018, where she is taught by Bartholomew laFolette and Matthijs Broersma.
