Svante Henryson


Svante Henryson (Stockholm, 1963) is a composer, cellist, bass guitarist, and bassist, and plays jazz, classical music, and hard rock. Svante Henryson is originally trained as a bassist at the Ingesund College of Music and the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. After his studies he became a member of the Oslo Philharmonic, where he would later also play as a soloist. He then became the solo bassist of the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra. In 1989, in a drastic change of course, he became the bass player in Yngwie Malmsteen’s Band. He taught himself how to play cello during this period. His first solo album would follow 8 years later.

Svante Henryson is currently composing music for orchestras and choirs, as well as chamber music. In 2018 and 2019, Svante made a great impression during the first edition of CELLOFEST with his Svante Henryson Quartet and the Sneak Preview of the Cello Biennale 2020.
