Cello & cello piccolo
Mario Brunello is a distinctly versatile musician. He directs, he improvises, he is interested in Contemporary Classical Music, is a passionate advocate for the music of Mieczylaw Weinberg, but above all, he is a convincing soloist on the 4 stringed cello piccolo. His interpretations of Bach’s violin sonatas and partitas on CD were received with praise, and he will perform them throughout Europe in the coming year. He also as a permanent appointment as director and soloist of Philharmonie Zuid since 2018, as well as with international formations, such as Kremerata Baltica. In 1986, he was the first European to win the famous International Tchaikovsky Competition.
