One of the highlights, and one of the first sold out performances of the 6th Cello Biënnale, was Fantasía para Violonchelo y Flamenco, a coproduction with Flamenco Biënnale Nederland. Rising stars Kian Soltani and Ella van Poucke (cello), kemençe player Derya Türkan and flamenco stars Rocío Márquez (singer), Efrén López (fiddle, guitar, oud, hurdy gurdy), Agustin Diassera (percussion), and Leonor Leal (dance) managed to mesmerize the audience with a musical fantasy previously unheard of. The musicians conveyed a new musical story around the Suite for cello solo by Gaspar Cassadó (1897-1966) with elements of flamenco and Eastern, Sephardi, and classical music.
