Gregor Horsch studied with Christoph Henkel in Germany. Thereafter he studied in Manchester with Ralph Kirshbaum and graduated cum laude at the Royal Northern College of Music. Afterwards he went to the Netherlands and became among others principal cellist of the Residentie Orkest and the solocellist of the Koninklijk Concertgebouw Orchestra. 
From 1996 het was teacher at the conservatory of Den Haag and Amsterdam. Nowadays Horsch is adjunct to the Robert-Schumann-Hochschule in Düsseldorf.
Horsch attended the first Cello Biennale and played an important role. For instance he played works from Sofia Goebaidoelina. This year is the first time Horsch will be part of the international jury of the National Cello Competition.
