New Celloconcerto from festivalcomposer Martijn Padding.
The festival’s own composer, Martijn Padding, has written a new cello concerto for the Canadian cellist Matt Haimovitz, and we can’t wait to hear the result! Padding had already written several wonderful, original solo concertos for other instruments, which Haimovitz fell in love with when he first heard them.
Due to the coronavirus, we had to postpone our originally planned viola-concerto by Bartók played on cello by Jean-Guihen Queyras. However, Schumann’s celloconcerto as a ‘replacement’ will be a wonderful alternative…
