For this Cello Biënnale, a celebration was plannend of the ten-year partnership with the Kronberg Academy, featuring the stars of the German top institute. The Dutch Alexander Warenberg and Ella van Poucke studied at the Academy and represent in this new, online program the many other top talents who cannot travel now. They will play adaptations of poignant arias by Dowland and Purcell – without voice. Puccini wrote a ‘Remember Me’ (Crisantemi) for a deceased friend, as did Purcell. In Tchaikovsky’s songs, the voice of mezzo-soprano Maria Warenberg will eventually allow the sun to break through.
Joachim Eilander didn’t study at the Kronberg Academy but certainly belongs to the Next Generation, the international top talent of today. In this program he gives his interpretation of Bach’s fifth cello suite.
