Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante for violin and viola belongs to the very top of classical music repertoire. One of many reasons to see Edgar Moreau performing the viola part on the cello.
Giovanni Sollima never fails to surprise us with new discoveries. Gaetano Ciandelli was a Neapolitan cellist and composer, and we do not know his birth and death years exactly. His son Gaetano, also a cellist and composer, was Paganini’s (!) top student. During lockdown, Sollima managed to find the long-lost manuscript of his cello concerto, and created the first edition himself. After more than 200 years, he will now premier the work at the Cello Biënnale!
