Harpist Astrid Haring received her Master’s degree summa cum laude in 2009 from the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague in the class of Ernestine Stoop. Astrid has a broad range of interests for various art disciplines and enjoys collaborating in multi-disciplinary and crossover projects. She started a collaboration with the young talented choreographer David Middendorp at the end of 2008, with a production called 15 Minute Universe, a combination of live dance, music, and animation technique. Astrid has also been working with Frysian singer Nynke Laverman since 2010, exploring world and pop music as well as Nynke’s own music. In 2010 Astrid made a tour through the country with the music theatre production Frank en Stein in a collaboration with director Marcel Sijm, composer Florian Maier, his music company ‘Hungry Gods’, and actors Rene Groothof and Oscar Siegelaar. In 2009, together with ensemble Operadans, she created the production The Snowqueen, a fairy tale with live music, dance, and narrator. Since 2008 Astrid has been part of a duo with bass trombonist Brandt Attema. They have since inspired several composers to write works for them, and have given performances at numerous venues within The Netherlands as well as abroad. Astrid and soprano Caroline Cartens also form a duo for which Chiel Meijering has composed a song cycle to poems by Ramsey Nasr and Piet Gebrandy. In addition to these projects, Astrid is an active performer in the orchestra and ensemble scene.
