The Dostojevski Kwartet is an upcoming string quartet, praised for their energetic and passionate musicianship. The quartet was founded in 2014 and is made up of Charlotte Basalo Vázquez, Julia Kleinsmann (violin), Francesca Wiersma (viola), and Emma Kroon (cello). The Dostojevski Kwartet has given performances in major halls such as the Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam, De Doelen, the Stadsgehoorzaal Leiden, the Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ, and has been a part of various chamber music series in the Netherlands. Furthermore, the young musicians of the Dostojevski Kwartet are frequently invited to perform at (inter)national festivals such as the Cello Biënnale Amsterdam, the Grachtenfestival, the International Chamber Music Festival Utrecht, Musique à Flaine, Festival de quatuors à cordes, Pays de Fayence, and the String Quartet Biennale Amsterdam. The quartet has been on national television and radio, in programmes such as AVRO Spiegelzaal, Opium op 4, de Muziekfabriek, and Podium Witteman.
Since 2016 the Dostojevski Kwartet has been enrolled at the Netherlands String Quartet Academy (NSKA), where they receive lessons from numerous inspiring musicians including Lukas Hagen, Eberhard Feltz, Luc-Marie Aguera, and Marc Danel. They have also followed a two-year coaching trajectory with the Danel Quartet, which was founded in collaboration with TivoliVredenburg, in support of young, talented ensembles.
