Julia Barahal (1995, Porto) began playing the cello aged seven, at the Porto Conservatory of Music. She received her Bachelor’s degree in the class of Jed Barahal at the Escola Superior de Musica e Artes do Espetaculo, Porto. She continued her studies at the Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam with Jeroen den Herder, and in 2020 she graduated with a Master’s degree.
Julia was a prize winner at the International Competition of the City Fundão (Portugal) and the Helena Sá e Costa Competition (Porto),and has performed with numerous orchestras and ensembles in Portugal, the Netherlands, and Brasil, and she is a member of the Mannheimer Philharmoniker. She received masterclasses with Johannes Moser, Gavriel Lipkind, Lluis Claret, and others.
