On May 5, 6 and 7, the Italian city Lucca was the cello capital of Italy. Cello virtuoso Giovanni Sollima took over the walled city with his festival 100CELLOS: for three days the Sollima-circus gave concerts in churches and monasteries, and did cheerful flashmobs on streets and squares. Maarten Mostert and Johan Dorrestein from the Cello Biënnale were there, as Giovanni Sollima – without doubt the moest energetic cellist ever – will play an important role at the next Biënnale, which will be very exciting.
